Men’s Tennis Falls at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The University of Delaware men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Monmouth on Sunday in the squad's lone match of the weekend. With the setback, the Blue Hens slip to 4-6 on the season.
Pascal Wagemaker and Guilherme Valdoleiros got the Blue Hens off to a strong start with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles, but the Hawks came back to win the next two matches to clinch the doubles point.
Monmouth would go on to win the first five singles matches to clinch the overall match, but Alexandre Gluck battled to a tough 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 victory at the No. 4 position get UD on the board. The Blue Hens fought hard as James Wilkinson, Luis Molina and Pierce Gilheany all took their matches to three sets as well.
The Blue & Gold will play a trio of matches next weekend, including a pair at home. Delaware will play its first CAA match of the season when it hosts Hofstra at 12 p.m. on Friday at the Delcastle Tennis Center. The Blue Hens will travel to Yale for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday before returning home to take on Georgetown on Sunday at 3 p.m. at DuPont Country Club
