MINNEAPOLIS – University of Delaware women's basketball senior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey was named a 2022 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America honorable mention while former head coach Natasha Adair was named a finalist for the WBCA NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year, announced Thursday evening by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Dickey, a Baltimore, Md. native, concluded the 2021-22 season averaging the best numbers of her four-year career. She has led the nation in points per game for seven-straight weeks (Nov. 29-Jan. 10) and is currently tied for second in the NCAA with 25.3 points per game. Dickey also averaged 10.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per contest while shooting 40.2 percent (284-of-707) from the field and 80.9 percent (190-of-235) from the free throw line. She closed out her stellar career by making her first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance against Maryland (Mar. 18) putting together a 31-point and 10 rebound performance.
Dickey has scored in double figures 30 of her 31 appearances, including posting one 50-plus, one 40-plus and six 30-plus point game (three consecutive) performances. Tallying a career-best 19 double-doubles on the season, Dickey produced one of the most impressive double-doubles in college basketball this season, setting career-highs with 52 points and 18 rebounds on Feb. 4.
Dickey is the second player in Delaware program history to collect WBCA regional finalist All-America recognition, joining former Blue Hen Elena Delle Donne. She also became the first player since Delle Donne in 2012 and 2013 to earn back-to-back CAA Player of the Year honors. Dickey concluded her career in the Blue & Gold uniform totaling 1,981 points, 1,038 rebounds, 213 steals, 192 assists, 82 steals and 48 double-doubles.
Adair led the Blue Hens to one Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) regular-season title, one CAA Tournament crown, one NCAA Tournament appearance, two Women's National Invitational Tournament appearances, and back-to-back 24-win seasons during her time with the Blue Hens. The 2021-22 campaign was a special one as Adair's squad hoisted up the program's third CAA title and made their appearance in the 2022 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament, the first time since the 2013 campaign. Adair also helped guide another spectacular season from tournament Most Outstanding Player, back-to-back CAA Player of the year, first team all-conference and all-tournament selection Dickey, who became the second player in recent program history to earn back-to-back player of the year honors.
Ten student-athletes were named to the WBCA All-America team as University of South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley took home the 2022 WBCA NCAA Division I National Coach of the Year honors.
