Rowing Competes at Mason Invitational

FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – The University of Delaware rowing team took to the water at the Mason Invitational, hosted by George Mason University Sunday, Apr. 24, on Occoquan River in Farifax Station, Va.
"We appreciate Mason hosting today, this is always a first-class regatta," said head coach Kevin Gruber. "We're showing some speed across all crews, just need to keep digging for more through this final three week push."
The Varsity Eights boat competed in the grand final and finished with a time of 6:34.3, good enough for third place (lineup-c-Hannah Kirk, 8-Cornelia Meiss, 7-Julia Rothstein, 6-Jessica Dobson, 5-Sloane Matthews, 4-Alexia Skor, 3-Hannah Walsh, 2-Madeline Curran and 1-Hannah Towhey). The Second Varsity Eight won the petite final with a time of 6:59.7 (lineup-c-Tierney Ellis, 8-Hanaa Abdallah, 7-Alli Burns, 6-Delaney Denegar, 5-McKenna Twitchell, 4-Ava Norton, 3-Sophia Talley, 2-Stirling North and 1-Morgan Kline-Hill) while the Varsity Four crossed the finish line first of the petite final with a time of 7:56.4 (lineup-c-Amanda Schlosser, 4-Lydia Greenwood, 3-Bridget Bergan, 2-Maddy Singh and 1-Maya Ferrer)
The Third Varsity Eight boat A won the grand final with a time of 7:03.4 (lineup-c-Claire Higgins-Hart, 8-Alexis O'Keefe, 7-Olivia Hollingsworth, 6-Elena Sherman, 5-Madeline Climie, 4-Abigal Spangler, 3-Makana Steinmetz, 2-Blair Kennedy and 1- Meredith Blowman) while boat B finished in fourth place with a time of 7:43.7 (lineup-c-Megan Hamilton, 8-Meghan Rogers, 7-Natalija Penev, 6-Elizabeth Fowler, 5-Felicia Marcozzi, 4-Gabriella Gherardi, 3-Margo Harlan, 2-Sara Girardi and 1-Mariah Noll).

The Blue Hens return to action on Saturday, Apr. 30 to compete in a quad-race with Bucknell, Duquesne and Lehigh to close out the regular season slate in Shamokin Dam, Pa.
