Delaware Men’s Golfers Finish Fifth At CAA Championship

SAINT HELENA ISLAND, S.C. – The Delaware men's golf team wrapped up its 2021-22 season this week by finishing in fifth place at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
The Blue Hens carded a 293-289-296=878 during the tournament to place fifth out of eight teams. Charleston easily won the title with an 837 score, finishing 19 shots ahead of second place UNCW.
Sparky Ariyachatvakin fired a 75 during Tuesday's final round on the par 72, 6,787-yard Dataw Island Cotton Dike Course, tying for 10th place in the individual standings with an even par 73-68-75=216. Ariyachatvakin opened his round with an eagle and two birdies to quickly move to four under on the day, before adding birdies on the 13th and 17th holes.
Roberto Nieves concluded his outstanding career with a two over par 70-73-75=218 to finish in a tie for 13th place.
Michal Bargenda posted the lowest round by a Blue Hen on the day with a three under par 69, finishing in a tie for 20th place with a five over par 77-75-69=221. Bargenda recorded six birdies while making just three bogeys during Tuesday's round.
Egor Zubov tied for 26th place with a seven over par 73-73-77=223, and Owen Manchester fired an 82 while substituting for Jack Halleron during the final round.
Kieron van Wyk was the conference individual champion by finishing at 13 under par, while his teammate Nevill Ruiter was three shots back.
