Women’s Tennis Preview: William & Mary (CAA Semifinals)

» The third-seeded University of Delaware women's tennis team looks to continue its run at the 2022 CAA Women's Tennis Championship on Saturday afternoon when the Blue Hens take on No. 2 William & Mary in a semifinal match. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at Elon's Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

» Delaware is making just its second ever appearance in the semifinals, and its first since 2013. The Blue Hens enter Saturday's matchup with a 19-5 overall record, setting a program record for wins in a season, and have won five-consecutive matches.

» In Friday's quarterfinal matchup, the Blue Hens defeated No. 6 Drexel 4-1. The Blue & Gold cruised to two victories in doubles to take the point before receiving singles victories from Alina Vasilenko, Dominika Sujova and Eliza Askarova to seal the win.

» The Blue Hens and Tribe met earlier this month in a neutral-site match at Towson. William & Mary pulled out the 4-3 win, handing UD its only loss this month. Delaware took the doubles point, but the Tribe came back in singles action, winning four of the six matches. The two programs have met five times in the CAA Championship with William & Mary having won each matchup, including most recently in the 2015 quarterfinals.

» William & Mary enters Saturday's semifinal with an 11-8 overall record and the Tribe went 5-1 against CAA opponents. In Friday's quarterfinal matchup against seventh-seeded Towson, William & Mary cruised to a 4-0 win.
