Men's Lacrosse Preview: NCAA Championship Opening Round

» For the first time since 2011, the Delaware men's lacrosse team has advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Hens will host Robert Morris on Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m. With a win on Wednesday, the Blue Hens will head to No. 2 seed Georgetown. The first round game would be at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 15.

» Senior Owen Grant was named a USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team All-American. He finished the regular season with 25 caused turnovers, 36 ground balls, five goals, and two assists en route to earning CAA Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

» Attackman Tye Kurtz was named the CAA All-Tournament Team MVP. Goalkeeper Matt Kilkeary, and attackmen JP Ward and Mike Robinson all earned CAA All-Tournament Team honors.

» Delaware and Robert Morris will meet for the fifth time in school history and the first time since 2009. The Blue Hens won that meeting 12-10 on April 11, 2009.

» UD set or tied several CAA Tournament records in the semifinal win over Drexel. Mike Robinson's six goals and JP Ward's eight points both tied CAA single-game records. The Blue Hens set a team single-game record for goals with 19 and points with 32. They tied the single-game record for assists with 13. Kurtz tied the single-game goals scored recorded of six, as well, in the championship game versus Towson.

» Delaware last won an NCAA Tournament game in 2007. The Blue Hens defeated Kurtz has scored at least one point in 43 consecutive games, while Robinson has scored at least one point in all 33 games he has appeared in at Delaware. Both players joined the 100 Goals Club on April 30 at Fairfield.
