Blue Hens Blanked By William & Mary in Series Opener

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back as the Tribe shut out Delaware, 13-0, Friday night at Plumeri Park.
William & Mary pounded out 19 hits and scored in six of eight frames to earn the victory in the opening game of the teams' weekend series.
David Hogarth and Jack Cone recorded RBI singles in the bottom of the first, while Cole Ragone added run-scoring doubles in the second and fourth innings to make it a 7-0 game.
The Tribe added a run in the fifth, before Ragone homered and Tyler Solomon delivered an RBI double in the sixth. William & Mary then tacked on three runs in the seventh to close the scoring.
Tribe pitchers Zach Taskounis, Tom Mayer and Nate Knowles combined on a six-hit shutout. Joey Loynd had two hits for the Blue Hens while Bryce Greenly, Joseph Carpenter, Nick Vera and John Weglarz each added one.
