Men's Lacrosse Preview: NCAA Championship First Round

» Delaware's 12-point win on Wednesday over Robert Morris advanced the Blue Hens to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Delaware will head to No. 2 seed Georgetown. The first round game will be at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 15 at Copper Field in Washington, DC.

» Wednesday night's win was the third NCAA Tournament victory for the Blue Hens and the first since 2007. JP Ward set a new school record for goals in an NCAA Tournament game with six. Matt Kilkeary's nine saves was the fifth-most in a postseason game by a UD goalkeeper.

» Senior Owen Grant was named a USA Lacrosse Magazine Second Team All-American. He finished the regular season with 25 caused turnovers, 36 ground balls, five goals, and two assists en route to earning CAA Defensive Player of the Year accolades.

» Attackman Tye Kurtz was named the CAA All-Tournament Team MVP. Goalkeeper Matt Kilkeary, and attackmen JP Ward and Mike Robinson all earned CAA All-Tournament Team honors.

» Delaware and Georgetown will meet for the fourth time in school history and the first time since 2010. The Hoyas won that meeting 13-11 on March 17 2010. Sunday marks the first time the two teams will play in the postseason.

» UD set or tied several CAA Tournament records in the semifinal win over Drexel. Mike Robinson's six goals and JP Ward's eight points both tied CAA single-game records. The Blue Hens set a team single-game record for goals with 19 and points with 32. They tied the single-game record for assists with 13. Kurtz tied the single-game goals scored recorded of six, as well, in the championship game versus Towson.
