Men's Lacrosse Preview: CAA Semifinals

» Delaware men's lacrosse captured a share of the Colonial Athletic Association regular season championship title to close out league play. The Blue Hens earned the overall No. 1 seed in the upcoming CAA Tournament that is set to begin on Thursday, May 5 at Vidas Field in Philadelphia. Delaware will play No. 4 seed Drexel at 4 p.m.

» Owen Grant was named the back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year after 26 caused turnovers, five goals scored, and three assists. Grant is joined on the All-CAA First Team by JP Ward. Four Blue Hens - Tye Kurtz, Mike Robinson, Joe Speers and Mark Bieda - were named to the All-Second Team.

» Matt Kilkeary registered a career-high 19 saves Delaware's 14-12 road win at Fairfield. He helped the Blue Hens secure a share of the CAA regular-season title and a trip to the conference tournament. Kilkeary played all 60 minutes in goal, facing 54 shots and posting a .613 save percentage. The goalkeeper made 10 saves in the first half and nine in the second half, including seven saves in the fourth, to shut out Fairfield in the fourth quarter.

» Delaware ranks No. 10 in man-up offense (.476) and No. 16 in clear percentage (.882). Owen Grant is No. 10 in caused turnovers per game (1.92), Tye Kurtz is No. 13 in individual man-up goals (6), and Mike Robinson ranks No. 15 in goals per game (3.08).

» Delaware last won the CAA Tournament Championship in 2011 with a 9-7 win over UMass as the No. 4 seed. The Blue Hens have won four tourney crowns (2007, 2010, 2011). Kurtz has scored at least one point in 42 consecutive games, while Robinson has scored at least one point in all 32 games he has appeared in at Delaware. Both players joined the 100 Goals Club on April 30 at Fairfield.
