Men’s Basketball Announces Addition of Nigel Shadd

NEWARK. Del. – Delaware men's basketball has added Nigel Shadd to the roster for the 2022-23 season, head coach Martin Ingelsby announced Tuesday. The graduate student comes to UD after spending time at Kansas State and University of the Pacific.
"Nigel is a strong, mobile forward that will bang on the boards and provide us with much needed size on our frontline," Ingelsby said. "He has the skills we like out of our bigs and he'll bring a veteran presence to our team & locker room. We're extremely excited to welcome Nigel to the Delaware basketball family."
During his one season at Pacific, the Mesa, Ariz. native appeared in 11 games with four starts. He averaged 2.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and a 48.0 field-goal percentage in 12.5 minutes per game.
Shadd spent the previous three seasons at Kansas State where he made appearances in 24 games for the Wildcats. He was on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2019 and was a member of the K-State squads to advance to the Elite Eight in 2017-18 and the NCAA First Round in 2018-19.
Coming out of Tri-City Christian Academy, Shadd was rated a top 10 recruit in the state of Arizona by ArizonaVarsity.com (no. 4) and 247Sports (no. 7), while being tabbed a consensus three-star recruit by Rivals.com, 247Sports.com, and ScoutHoops.com. A four-year letterman, he aided the Warriors to an 82-10 record during his prep career, which included a state championship in 2014 and state runner-up finishes in 2015, 2016, and 2017.
Overall, he scored 1,165 career points, including 1,000 over his final three seasons. Shadd finished with 13.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per outing as he shot 66.9 percent from the field. He holds the school's career records for rebounds (881), blocked shots (267), and field-goal percentage (66.9), while also claiming the single-season marks in rebounds (316) and blocks (100). The 2017 Canyon Athletic Association Division 3 Player of the Year, Shadd was a three-time member of the CAA Division 3 All-State Team (2015-17).
