Sullivan Earns Non-Roster Invite to Philadelphia Phillies' Spring Training

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Former Blue Hens pitcher Billy Sullivan IV has earned a non-roster invite to Philadelphia Phillies' spring training, the Phillies announced on Tuesday morning.
Sullivan, who signed with the Phillies during the 2020 season, spent two years as a starter for the Blue Hens in 2018 and 2019. In 16 appearances for the Hens, all starts, Sullivan pitched to a 3.49 earned run average, striking out 105 in 77.1 innings and recording a 7-5 record. Sullivan was drafted by the Phillies in the 28th round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
During his freshman season in 2018, Sullivan was named CAA Co-Rookie of the Year, becoming the team's first recipient of the award since the 2006 season, pitching to a 7-3 record and a 2.97 ERA in 14 starts, striking out 97. Sullivan was also named to the CAA All-Rookie Team and All-Third Team during the 2018 campaign.
Sullivan spent the 2022 season with the Reading Fightin' Phils, the Phillies' AA affiliate. In 44 appearances (two starts), Sullivan recorded a 5-1 record and a 4.59 ERA in 51 innings pitched, striking out 77.
The right-hander will look to become the 19th Blue Hen to reach the major leagues.
