SPARKS, Md. – USA Lacrosse headquarters is set to host the 2023 USA Lacrosse Fall Classic from October 13-15. The event will feature the World Champion U.S. Men's National Team, the Canadian National Team, and four Blue Hens from the University of Delaware men's lacrosse team.
This year's Fall Classic will feature three Hens on the Canadian National Team as Tye Kurtz, Owen Grant, and Mike Robinson will represent The Great White North while Matt DeLuca will represent the Red, White, and Blue.
Kurtz, a native of Puslinch, Ontario, was named the 2023 CAA Offensive Player of the Year and earned Third Team All-American recognition in his final season wearing the Blue & Gold. Kurtz is Delaware's all-time leader in goals scored with 180 in his illustrious career. Kurtz was selected in both the NLL and PLL drafts as the Blue Hen standout was signed by the Albany Firewolves Lacrosse Club in the NLL and the Chaos Lacrosse Club in the PLL.
Grant, a former teammate of Kurtz, is a Newmarket, Ontario native and Delaware's all-time leader in caused turnovers. He was named the 2023 CAA Defensive Player of the Year and received First-Team All-American honors by Inside Lacrosse and Second-Team recognition by USA Lacrosse Magazine. He was a three-time All-American for the Blue Hens defense and like Kurtz, was also selected in both the NLL and PLL drafts. Grant was drafted by both the Vancouver Warriors of the NLL and the Redwoods Lacrosse Club in the PLL.
Robinson, the lone current member of the Blue Hens is a Peterborough, Ontario native and will join Kurtz and Grant in the NLL next winter. Robinson was the 2021 CAA Rookie of the Year and earned USILA All-American Recognition back in 2022. Robinson is sixth on Delaware's all-time goals scored list with 145.
DeLuca, the lone American born former Blue Hen participating in this year's Fall Classic, is a Farmingdale, N.Y. native. He spent four seasons as the starting goalkeeper for the Blue & Gold and is fifth all-time in saves with 571. DeLuca was selected eighth overall in the 2020 PLL College Draft by Waterdogs Lacrosse Club. He split time in net with teammate Charlie Cipriano during the PLL Championship Series and tallied a .590 save percentage.
DeLuca and the World Champion U.S. Men's National team squares off against the Canadian National Team on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters at Tierney Field. Good luck to our current and former Blue Hens.
