Field Hockey Falls to Northeastern on the Road

DEDHAM, Mass. – The University of Delaware field hockey team fell 2-1 to Northeastern Friday afternoon on the road.
HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Noelle Sabbagh scored Delaware's only goal on the day
- Julia Duffhuis tallied a season-high eight shots with two on frame
- Sabbagh and Berber Bakermans each recorded three shots with two on goal
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first quarter, the Huskies found the back of the Blue Hens cage at the 23:15 mark in the second to take a 1-0 lead
- Later in the second, the Hens were awarded a penalty corner right as time expired
- Valentina Martorell inserted the corner to Duffhuis whose shot was saved and deflected to Sabbagh who reared back and put up the equalizer for the Hens to knot the game at one apiece headed into the break
- After a quiet third quarter, the Hens came out firing in the fourth as the Blue & Gold tallied 11 shots in the period, but could not find the back of the cage
- The Huskies took one shot in the fourth quarter and it was the difference-maker as Northeastern's Alex Mega scored on an assist from Lilly Smith
GAME NOTES
- The Blue Hens had a season-high 23 shots on the day
- It was the second straight game of 11 shots on goal
- The Hens 15 penalty corners were also a season-high
UP NEXT
Delaware heads to the City of Brotherly Love on Sunday, Oct. 15 as the Blue Hens take on Temple in a non-conference match-up. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m.
