HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team is heading to the CAA Semifinals after a 2-2 (4-2 PKs) decision over Drexel on Thursday evening. The Blue Hens will take on top-seeded Hofstra Sunday at 2 p.m. in UD's first trip to the semis since 2016.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Adam Vik made four crucial saves and a massive stop during the shootout.
Carlos Fernandez and Sam Donnellan each tallied a score, with Orri Thorhallsson recording an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Fernandez struck first after a perfect through ball from Thorhallsson during the 13^th minutes of play. The shot hit off the bottom of the crossbar, bounced off the keeper's hands, and found the back of the net.
Just 41 seconds later, the Blue Hens' pressure on the Dragons' keeper forced a miscue for an easy chance for Donnellan.
Drexel responded during the 23^rd and 36^th minutes to send the game tied into the break.
Neither team could garner any successful offensive opportunities in the second half forcing overtime.
Overtime was more of the same, sending the game to a shootout.
Delaware converted four of five penalty kicks, with the Dragons only nailing two.

GAME NOTES

The Hens' last appearance in the CAA Semifinals came in 2016 when UD won the league crown.
