Women’s Basketball Closes Non-Conference Slate Against Harvard On New Year’s Eve

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team returns to campus Sunday afternoon to wrap up its non-conference slate in a thrilling New Year's Eve home matchup against Harvard inside Bob Carpenter Center.
The remarkable union after 29 long years, second time meeting in program history has tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m. and will be featured as part of FloSports' Live-To-Social initiative. The game will be streamed on the FloHoops YouTube channel, Twitter/X account and Facebook page free of charge for viewers and will be broadcast on FloHoops.

ABOUT THE HENS
- The Blue Hens last saw the hardwood exactly 10 days ago on Dec. 21, when they closed out the road portion of the non-conference schedule against in-state foe Delaware State.
- Delaware saw their winning drought continue as the squad fell 69-66 to in-state rival Delaware State inside Memorial Hall moving to a 4-7 record on the season.
- The Blue Hens saw a strong outing from Tara Cousins and Rebecca Demeke.
- Cousins finished with 22 points (7-17 FG, 5-13 3FG) and five rebounds to pace the Blue Hens.
- Demeke followed with a career-best 19 points (7-14 FG, 5-12 3FG) and four rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench.
- Nakiyah Mays-Prince, who made her first start of the season, pulled down a career-best 10 rebounds, in 34 minutes of action.
- Nationwide, Cousins stands out, ranking 29th in three-pointers per game (2.91), 32nd in three-point attempts (87) and 44th in three-pointers made (32).
- Chloe Wilson's national standing is also notable, holding the 28th in free throws made (55) and 35th in free throw attempts (69).
- As a unit, Delaware ranks 52nd in defensive rebounds per game (28.5) in the nation, third in the CAA; 74th in three-point percentage (34.6) and second in the conference; 75th in rebounds per game (40.73), fourth in the conference.
- The last time out for Harvard was on Thursday, Dec. 28 against Rhode Island, as part of their five-game road stretch.
- The Crimson dropped a heartbreaking 59-56 decision to URI moving to a 6-6 mark on the season.
- Harvard was paced by Lola Mullaney, who led all scorers with 15 points and added three assists and two rebounds.
- Katie Krupa followed close behind with 14 points, four assists and three rebounds.
- Elena Rodriguez rounded out double digit scorers by adding 10 points.
- Karlee White posted another strong performance with eight points, five rebounds, and a steal.
- As of Dec. 26 CollegeInsider.com Top 25 Mid-Major Poll, the Crimson received 21 votes.
- It has been 29 years since the Blue Hens and the Crimson will be meeting, the second time meeting in program history.
- The Crimson won the first ever meeting between the two squads on Dec. 18, 1994 by a score of 75-60 in a neutral site game in Tampa, Fla.
- This will be the first time second-year head coaches Sarah Jenkins and Carrie Moore will have their squads facing one another inside Bob Carpenter Center.
