RICHMOND, Va. – Delaware men's lacrosse red-shirt senior attackman Tye Kurtz was named the Colonial Athletic Association's offensive player of the week, the league announced on Monday.
Kurtz led the offense in goals (five), points (six), and shots (13) to help the Blue Hens open the season with a 14-5 win against Lafayette on Saturday. He extended his consecutive games with a point streak to 47, which is tied for the third-longest streak in program history, and currently the third-longest streak among active players.
He has 125 goals in his career at Delaware. He's four goals away from surpassing John Wunder (127), Don Swan (127), and Hayler Osborn (128) to become fifth in program history in goals in a career. He is two points away from becoming the seventh player in program history.
The accolade is the fifth player of the week honor of Kurtz' career and the first this season for the Puslinch, Ontario native. Kurtz's last CAA Player of the Week came on April 25, 2022.
UD heads to Emmitsburg, Md. for a road game against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday, Feb. 13 (3 p.m.).
