Blue Hens Pick Up Second Straight Road Win Against Mount St. Mary's

EMMITSBURG, Md. – No. 13/14/14 Delaware men's lacrosse picked up its second straight road win against Mount St. Mary's (0-3) 15-6 Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Blue Hens (2-0) are 18-4 all-time against the Mountaineers.
JP Ward got the offense rolling in the first half. He was credited with an assist for the team's first four goals and added a goal of his own. Three of his four assists were scored by Cam Acchione, while the fourth was scored by Tye Kurtz. The hat trick would be Acchione's second of his career. His last hat trick came against Drexel back on Apr. 10, 2021.
In the first minute of the second half, Tye Kurtz scored his second goal of the game. The goal would be his 129th of his career as he moved to fifth all-time in program history. He'd finish the game with three goals and one assist.
After Tye Kurtz's goal to open the second half, the Blue Hens received goal contributions from Nick Jessen, Ward, Matt Acchione, Reed Kurtz and Brendan Powers.
Ward led the way for the Blue Hens with four goals and four assists. Cam Acchione followed with three goals and two assists to post a career-high five points. The Acchione and Kurtz brothers would combine for eight of the Blue Hens' 15 goals.
As a team, the Blue Hens outshot the Mountaineers 44-23, including holding the 29-10 shots-on-goal advantage, caused 14 turnovers and won 13-of-25 faceoffs. UD also scored three man-up goals.
Delaware will return to the First State Saturday, Feb. 18 for its home opener against St. John's from Delaware Stadium. It will be the first of five straight home games for the Blue Hens.
