Three Blue Hens Named NFHCA Scholars of Distinction

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Delaware field hockey student-athletes Berber Bakermans, Ella Kaufman, and Grace Hoepfner were tabbed as 2022 NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction, the organization announced on Thursday.Â
Hoepfner, a fifth-year senior who's majoring in exercise science, earns her fourth NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honor. She is also a four-time NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad member. This past fall, she earned a 4.0 GPA and has a cumulative GPA of 3.95. The Yorktown, Va., native appeared and started in all 22 of the Blue Hens games in 2022. She scored two goals, and was a member of the CAA All-Tournament team.
Bakermans is a junior who's majoring in marketing and earns her first NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honor. She is a three-time member of the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. This past fall, Bakermans earned a 3.93 GPA and a cumulative GPA of 3.70. The Best, Netherlands native appeared in 22 games and made 21 starts. She led the Blue Hens, and the Colonial Athletic Association, in assists with 17, and added four goals. Bakermans was a first-team All-CAA honoree, an NFHCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second-Team athlete, and a member of CAA All-Tournament Team.
Kaufman, a sophomore who's majoring in Health Behavioral Sciences, earns her first NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honor. She is a two-time member of the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. This past fall, the Queenstown, Md. native earned a 4.0 GPA, and has a cumulative GPA of 3.92. She registered a goal against VCU on Aug. 26.
