Namakonov Earns CAA Men's Rookie Swimmer Of The Month For January

NEWARK, Del. - Matvei Namakonov was named CAA Men's Rookie Swimmer Of The Month for January, as announced by the conference on Jan. 7, 2022.
Namakonov had three top-3 performances in the 50 free, including a first-place effort vs. Seton Hall (21.21) and a second-place outing against Towson (21.20). He was also part of a 200 medley relay team that won twice, including a pool-record time of 1:29.58 against Towson. He was also a member of the 400 free relay team that had three podium placements. Namakonov is the first Delaware swimmer to earn the honor since Toni Sabev in January 2022.
Delaware will next compete at the CAA Championships from Feb. 22-Feb. 25 in Hampton, Va.
