Baseball Swept at Elon

ELON, N.C. – Delaware baseball (9-14, 2-4 CAA) couldn't muster any offense in the series finale at conference leader Elon (16-8, 8-1), playing on the short side of a pitcher's duel and losing 1-0.
Starter Chris Grome weaved out of trouble in his two scoreless innings, inducing a bases-loaded double play in the first and striking out two.
Tyler Strechay relieved Grome and dueled Elon starter Justin Mitrovich over the next four innings, trading zeroes. JJ Freeman and Joey Loynd recorded hits off Mitrovich.
The Phoenix broke through in the bottom of the seventh as Connor Offshack hit an RBI single to give Elon the first and only lead of the day.
Delaware did not mount any offense in the final two innings, losing its third consecutive game.
The Hens return home on Tuesday, hosting Saint Joseph's for the first installment of the 2023 Liberty Bell Classic. First pitch is at 4:00 p.m.
