Men's Lacrosse Ranked No. 20 in Major Polls

NEWARK, Del. – Delaware men's lacrosse enters this week ranked No. 20 in the Inside Lacrosse, USA Lacrosse Magazine, and USILA polls, the organizations announced on Monday.
This is the first time in nearly a month the Blue Hens are ranked in all three major polls, dating back to Feb. 27 No. 17 in the USA Lacrosse Magazine poll, and No. 19 in the Inside Lacrosse and USILA polls.
Delaware enters the week 7-3 overall, and 3-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play. UD is in a three-way tie for first place in the conference with Drexel, and Stony Brook, and have won four of its last five games.
The Blue Hens are coming off a 19-1 win against Hampton on Saturday, April 1. It was the most goals scored for the Blue Hens this season, and the most since Feb. 5, 2022 when they defeated NJIT 19-9. The one goal is the least amount of goals given up since Feb. 15, 2020, also against NJIT.
Offensively, the Blue Hens are led by Tye Kurtz, and JP Ward.
Kurtz enters the week with 57 points off 38 goals and 19 assists. He needs one point to pass Anthony DiMarzio for the most points in program history, and three goals to pass Curtis Dickson for the most goals in program history.
Ward is second on the Blue Hens in points with 51 points off 30 assists and 21 goals. He was named the CAA's offensive player of the week on Monday.
Defensively, Delaware is led by Owen Grant, and Matt Kilkeary. Grant leads the Blue Hens in caused turnovers with 22, and has scored five goals over the last four games. Kilkeary boasts a 8.57 goals against average, which is the best in the conference, and has a .549 save percentage. Over the last two games, Kilkeary posted a .703 save percentage, and has allowed an average of 4.0 goals per game.
The Blue Hens host Fairfield on Saturday, April 8 at noon. Saturday's game will be senior day, where 10 student athletes will be honored. Saturday is also the men's lacrosse 75th anniversary game.
