HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The University of Delaware softball team's CAA series finale at Hofstra has been canceled due to inclement weather. Prior to the weekend, the game was moved to Saturday, but weather forced a postponement to Sunday. The Blue Hens finish the weekend still atop the CAA standings as they sit at 26-18 overall and 15-5 in conference play.
The two teams split Friday's doubleheader to split the weekend. Delaware dropped a tough 7-5 decision in game one before bouncing back for a 9-1 victory in the second game. Hanna Garber and Kiara Mills each had four hits across the two games, while Mills drove in four runs on the day. Sydney Shaffer and Chloe Blantz also had three RBI.
The Blue Hens will return home to close out the regular season next weekend with a three-game CAA series against Hampton. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. before concluding the series on Saturday at 1 p.m. Delaware will celebrate its senior class on Saturday in a pregame Senior Day Ceremony.
