NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware Softball has added catcher Maddie Fife as a transfer from University of Saint Joseph's, as announced on May 31, 2023.Â
"We are thrilled that Maddie chose to be a Blue Hen! Not only does she bring veteran leadership behind the plate, but she also has been a consistent hitter in the A-10 and drives the ball with power," head coach Jen Steele said. "She immediately makes us better and we can't wait to have her compete in the Blue and Gold."
Fife had a solid four-year career with the Hawks, as she had 15 home runs and 67 RBI and compiled a .372 on base percentage in 139 games. This season, she started in 38 of 42 games and ranked fifth on the team in hits with 28, third in RBI with 17, and third in home runs with three. Fife received Second-Team All-Conference honors in 2021 and 2022, and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team in 2021 along with NFCA All-Northeast Region Third-Team honors. A native from West Chester, Penn., Fife earned First-Team All-State honors at West Chester Bayard Rustin as a junior and senior, and was a four-time All-Chesmont League honoree. She collected over 100 career hits and RBI.Â
