Albamonti Claims Top-10 Finish At NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

AUSTIN, TEXAS – Call her Ms. All-American! Megan Albamonti was tasked to represent the University of Delaware track & field program Thursday evening at the 2023 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by the University of Texas, Austin from Mike A. Myers Track & Soccer Stadium and she did not disappoint. The Westerly, R.I. native finished in ninth place and collected Second Team All-America honors in her National Championship debut.
Albamonti, the three-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) champion, booked her place in the finals on her first attempt. Albamonti saw her implement fly through the air for 54.46m, which was her second-best throw this season, capping off her final year in the Blue & Gold uniform in which she threw over 50 meters in all eight competitions and captured four victories.
Albamonti is the first Blue Hen to capture All-America nods in recent history, the fifth student-athlete in CAA history to compete in the javelin at the National Championships and the first since 2008. Her performance was third-best all-time for the league in the event.
