Field Hockey Announces its 2023 Slate of Games

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware field hockey program and head coach Rolf van de Kerkof are excited to announce the team's 2023 schedule Wednesday morning, featuring a full 17-matchup slate.
The Hens open the 2023 season with back-to-back road games down South as UD faces Virginia Commonwealth University on Aug. 25 at 3 p.m. followed by Old Dominion two days later at 1 p.m. On Sept. 1, the Blue Hens make their home debut with a matchup against Villanova, beginning a three-game home stand. Following the Wildcats, the Hens welcome both Columbia and Princeton to Newark on Sept. 3 and Sept. 1, respectively.
Delaware's non-conference schedule continues with road matchups against Penn State (Sept. 10) and Saint Joe's (Sept. 17). The Hens then head to UConn (Sept. 24) and host American (Oct. 1) before facing Temple on the road (Oct. 15) and hosting UPenn (Oct. 29) to close out the schedule.
CAA action begins on the road against Hofstra (Sept. 15) followed by home matchups with Monmouth (Sept. 22) and William & Mary (Sept. 29). UD then hits the road for games against both Northeastern (Oct. 1) and Drexel (Oct. 20) before closing out the CAA part of the schedule at home against Towson on Oct. 27.
Despite beginning last season 1-8, Delaware captured the program's fourth consecutive CAA championship.
