RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware field hockey senior Kiki Oudshoorn was named the first CAA field hockey Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Oudshoorn, an Ede, Netherlands native, tallied six points on three goals in the Blue Hens opening weekend in Virginia that included a win over No. 18-ranked ODU. On Friday, Oudshoorn tallied UD's first goal of the season against VCU followed by a two-goal performance against the Monarchs.
The senior recorded both goals against the Monarchs in the fourth quarter with her first coming in the 48th minute. With the Hens up 2-0, Oudshoorn found the back of the ODU cage to extend Delaware's lead to 3-0. Then just six minutes later, after the Monarchs made it a one-goal contest, Oudshoorn pitched a shot over a Monarchs defender and into the ODU cage to seal the win for the Blue & Gold.
Delaware returns to action on Friday, Sept. 1 as the Blue Hens host Villanova at Fred P. Rullo Stadium at 5 p.m.
