Softball Earns Eight Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Chloe Blantz, Hanna Garber, Julz Garber, Grace Hrustich, Morgan Olynyk, Grace Rudolph, Katie Scheivert, and Taylor Wroten were all named to the Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2022-23 academic year.Â
Blantz is a three-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient and is majoring in pre-veterinary medicine. She appeared and started in all 49 games at shortstop during her sophomore season and hit .248 with seven doubles, three triples, 15 RBIs, and 20 runs scored. She ranked sixth on the team with 11 walks and had eight multiple-hit games while recording a .935 fielding percentage in 186 total chances
Hanna wrapped up a sensational five-year career this past season by recording All-CAA First-Team, NFCA All-Northeast Region Second-Team, CSC Academic All-District Team, CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence, NCAA Delaware Woman of the Year nominee accolades. She majored in mathematics education and is a five-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. On the field, she appeared and started in all 49 games and batted .360 with two home runs, 13 doubles, four triples, 20 RBIs, and 32 runs scored. Hanna led the Blue Hens in batting average, hits, doubles, triples, runs scored, SLG, and OBP.
Julz, a finance major, is a five-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient and was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team in 2023. She was an All-CAA Second Team and NFCA All-Northeast Region Third Team recipient and started in all 49 games in center field. She ranked second on the team with a .358 batting average and 57 hits while leading the Blue Hens with 17 steals on 22 attempts, eight sacrifice bunts, and 19 multiple-hit games.Â
Hrustich is a health behavior science major and a four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient. She appeared in 17 games with 11 starts at DP (eight) and RF (three) after returning from an injury in 2022. She finished with 14 hits in 34 at bats (.412) with three doubles, four RBIs, and five runs scored. Hrustich also had a .500 SLG and walked five times for a .487 OBP.Â
Olynyk is an economics and political science major and four-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient. She started in nine games in right field and hit .240 with a triple, three doubles, and three RBIs. She hit safely in five-straight games from Feb. 11-17 with extra-base hits in four-straight games.Â
Rudolph is a six-time CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll recipient and wrapped up her career as a psychology major. She started in 30 of her 35 games played as a right fielder and had seven RBIs and 10 runs scored.Â
Scheivert was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team and earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors four times in 2023 while majoring in sports management. She was named to the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll in both semesters and started in all 49 games in left field. Scheivert hit .313 with 45 hits, one home run, and six doubles and was tied for second on the team with 26 runs scored and tied for third with 20 RBIs. She was also second with 14 stolen bases in 16 attempts.Â
Wroten, a transfer from Indian River State College, completed her only season as a Blue Hen earning All-CAA Second Team honors and was a CSC Academic All-District Team recipient while majoring in physical therapy. She appeared in 30 games, with 16 starts and went 8-4 with three saves, a 1.93 ERA, 71 strikeouts in 127.0 innings, held opponents to a .188 batting average, and fired eight complete games and four shutouts. In CAA play, she 5-1 with a 1.08 ERA and a .162 batting average against in 65.0 innings.Â
