Cross Country/Track & Field Announces the Hiring of Ben Bamforth

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware cross country and track & field head coach Kenyetta Iyevbele announces the hiring of Ben Bamforth as the program's assistant coach on Thursday.
"I am honored to be given the opportunity to represent the University of Delaware's cross country and track programs," Bamforth said. "I look forward to building upon the momentum from last year and assisting on creating a culture of excellence. Thank you to Coach Kenyetta and the amazing staff within the athletic department. Go Hens!"
"Joining forces with Ben is an electrifying moment for our track and field/cross country program," head coach Kenyetta Iyevbele said. "His proven track record of success, unwavering commitment to excellence, and innovative coaching approach will undoubtedly contribute to the athletes' development and be the perfect fit for our team. With Ben on board, we are ready to accelerate towards triumph, leaving a trial of victories and inspiring performances in our wake."

Bamforth will primarily work with the cross country program, as well as the mid and long distance runners for track & field.Â

Prior to his time with the cross country and track & field program, Bamforth this past year working at the University of Delaware Ice Arena as a supervisor.Â

In addition, he spent the past two seasons as a track & field coach with Wilmington Friends School. In Wilmington, Bamforth was the head coach of the middle school team, and an assistant coach with the high school teams.

Bamforth is no stranger to working with UD athletics. He spent time as a student manager for Delaware men's basketball team for the 2019-2020 season, and was the equipment manager manager for the football team in 2021.

He graduated from UD in 2021 with a bachelor's of science degree, majoring in sports management.
