NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware volleyball was defeated by Campbell in four sets (11-25, 30-28, 21-25, 22-25) on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2023.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Lani Mason had 12 kills and 14 digs.
Kirah Johnson had 12 kills, hit .313, and had four blocks.
Ezgi Basaranlar recorded 34 assists, 11 digs, and four blocks.
Asia Murray had five kills, hit .455, and had five blocks.
Eileen Gex had 24 digs.
Amelia Painter had 11 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST SET

Delaware fought back from a quick 5-0 deficit to cut the Camels' lead to 6-5.
However, Campbell scored 14 of the next 16 points, led 20-7, and eventually won the set.
Mason had four kills while Painter and Gex had four digs.

SECOND SET

The Blue Hens got off to a 9-5 start and led 14-8 to begin the second set.
Campbell rallied to take a 17-16 lead and led 20-19 before four straight points from Delaware put them up by three.
Campbell tied it at 23 and led 27-26, but Delaware scored four of the final five points to claim the set.
In the set, Johnson had eight kills, Basaranlar had 12 assists, and Gex had 10 digs.

THIRD SET

A 7-0 run by Campbell gave them a 12-6 lead in the third set.
With Delaware facing a set loss down 24-17, they rattled off a 4-0 spurt to cut the Camels' lead down, but Campbell finished off a set three win.
Mason, Murray, and Madelyn Grunza all had three kills., while Basaranlar had nine assists.

FOURTH SET

Campbell began to pull away after the score was tied at 10, and eventually went up 22-16.
The Blue Hens scored six of the next eight points to put together another last-minute comeback but Campbell held on.

GAME NOTES

Basaranlar has had at least 30 assists in nine games this season, and recorded her second double-double of the year. She now has 3,213 career assists.
Mason recorded her fifth double-double of the season.
Johnson recorded her fifth game this season with at least 10 kills and a hitting percentage of at least .300.
Murray had her sixth game this season with at least five blocks.
Gex's 24 digs were a season-best, and her most since having 28 against The College of Charleston on Nov. 17, 2022.
Painter's 11 digs equaled a season-best.
