NEWARK, Del. – Two University of Delaware men's lacrosse players were drafted to the National Lacrosse League over the weekend as graduate students Mike Robinson and Reed Kurtz were both selected in the second round of Saturday's NLL draft at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Ontario, Canada.
Robinson, a Peterborough, Ontario native was the 28th overall pick by the Halifax Thunderbirds Saturday afternoon. "It was truly an unbelievable experience," said Robinson. "Getting drafted to the NLL has been a lifelong dream of mine and to have it all come to fruition was incredibly special." Robinson was named Second-Team All-CAA in 2022 after being named the CAA Rookie of the Year and First-Team in 2021. Kurtz, a Puslinch, Ontario native, was the 33rd overall pick by the New York Riptide. "Getting drafted to the NLL was something that I had always dreamed about growing up and for it to finally come true is extremely exciting," said Kurtz. "Being able to attend the draft and hear my name called is something I will always remember. It was such an amazing experience." Kurtz has appeared in 55 career games with four goals and two assists. He has 81-career ground balls and 26 caused turnovers.
