NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware baseball program announces the hiring of former Blue Hen Standout pitcher Chris Ludman as the Assistant Pitching Coach/Camp Director on Tuesday.
"We are excited to have Chris back in the program as the assistant pitching coach and camp director," head coach Greg Mamula said. "As a weekend starting pitcher at UD for five years, Chris earned the respect of Blue Hen baseball with, not only his success on the field, but with his competitiveness, consistent personality and leadership. These are the same qualities that will make him a successful baseball coach. He has a bright future in coaching."
"I would like to thank Coach Mamula for bringing me onto his staff and allowing me to work with a group of coaches that has experienced much success throughout their careers," Ludman said. "This is an exciting time to be a part of the University of Delaware athletic department and baseball program. I could not be prouder to represent the Blue Hens as a coach and I look forward to what the future holds."
On the mound, the two-time team captain pitched in 58 games and made 42 starts. Over his 286.1 career innings, he had a 4.71 ERA and struck out the 232 batters, which is the sixth most in program history.
While pitching for the Blue Hens in 2017-2022, Ludman earned both a B.S. in Finance and an M.B.A. in Strategic Management.
