MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – University of Delaware senior forward Kiki Oudshoorn was named the National Offensive Player of the Week by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association as it was announced Wednesday afternoon.
Oudshoorn's National Player of the Week honor comes on the heels of being named the CAA Co-Player of the Week for the second time in as many weeks.
The Ede, Netherlands native had a stellar weekend for the Blue & Gold as the senior forward tallied 13 points with back-to-back hat tricks in Delaware's two contests. In the Blue Hens 8-0 win over Villanova on Friday, Oudshoorn led the way with seven points as she added an assist to her first hat trick of the weekend. She followed up that performance with another three-goal, six point day including the game-winning goal against Columbia in a 4-2 win over the Lions.
Led by Oudshoorn's nationally recognized performance, the Blue Hens went 2-0 on the week and jumped into the national rankings for the first time this season as Delaware was slotted at No. 19 in this week's NFHCA Top-20 Poll.
Oudshoorn has recorded at least one goal in each of Delaware's four games to start the season. She leads the CAA with nine goals and 19 points overall. Her 2.25 goals per game leads all of NCAA Division I.
Delaware returns to action this weekend with two top-20 matchups as the Blue Hens host No. 15-ranked Princeton on Friday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. followed by a trip to No. 5 Penn State on Sunday, Sept. 10 set for 1 p.m.
