Football Travels to Penn State Saturday

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware football team will make the trip to Happy Valley on Saturday for the program's 35th all-time matchup against an FBS opponent. Kickoff against No. 7 Penn State is set for 12 p.m. in Beaver Stadium and the game will be broadcast on Peacock.

ABOUT THE HENS
- The Blue Hens are coming off a 37-13 season-opening win in a CAA matchup at Stony Brook last Thursday behind 559 yards of total offense.
- Ryan O'Connor finished 24-of-38 passing for 346 yards and a touchdown in his first career start, connecting with nine different receivers.
- Marcus Yarns led the rushing attack with 107 yards, his first career 100-yard game, on 11 carries with two scores.
- Chandler Harvin caught five passes for 100 yards while Kym Wimberly also had five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown in his UD debut.
- Tyron Herring led the defense with eight tackles and had one of Delaware's three second-half interceptions. Ty Davis returned his interception 50 yards for a touchdown.
- There are plenty of new faces to learn this year as the Blue Hens have welcomed 45 newcomers to the roster including 24 freshmen as well as 21 transfers from other institutions.
ABOUT THE NITTANY LIONS
- Penn State enters Saturday's game ranked No. 7 in the country in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches' Poll.
- The Nittany Lions are 1-0 after a 38-15 victory over West Virginia to open the season, finishing with 478 yards of total offense, including 332 passing yards.
- Drew Allar passed for 325 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72-percent (21-29) of his passes.
- KeAndre Lambert-Smith caught four passes for 123 yards and two scores.
- The defense got to the quarterback for three sacks against West Virginia and allowed just 308 total yards, while Curtis Jacobs led the Nittany Lions with 10.0 tackles and a sack.
SERIES HISTORY
- Saturday will be the first meeting between the two programs.
- It will be the second game in UD history against a ranked FBS opponent, with the first coming in 2017 against No. 18 Virginia Tech.
- Delaware's last meeting against a Big Ten opponent came during the 2021 season, a 45-13 loss at Rutgers. Nolan Henderson connected with Thyrick Pitts for a touchdown pass and Ryan Coe kicked field goals from 41 and 53 yards.
