14-Point Deficit Erased in Men’s Basketball’s Comeback Win at Campbell

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Jyáre Davis secured an offensive rebound and kicked it out to Gerald Drumgoole Jr. for a three-pointer that put the University of Delaware men's basketball team up for good as it erased a 14-point deficit to defeat Campbell 68-62 Thursday night. The Blue Hens move to 10-6 on the season and 2-1 in league play, while Campbell falls to 7-9, 1-2 CAA.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Drumgoole Jr. led all players with 20 points on an 8-for-16 evening. He added six boards to his line.
- Davis finished one-point shy of a double-double with nine and 10 rebounds. He also handed out six assists.
- Cavan Reilly tallied 15 points and a snatched career-high four steals.
- Christian Ray rounded out the double-digit scoring with 13 points. He also corralled seven rebounds.
- The Hens shot 49.1 percent from the field, led by a powerful 55.2 percent in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Campbell tallied the first 12 points of the game, which forced a Hens' timeout. The home team would make it 14-0 prior to a 11-2 run for Delaware over the next 3:33. The Camels scored the next five points into the under-12 media timeout to hold a 21-11 lead. The Blue & Gold garnered an 11-2 margin over the next 8:33 to close the gap to one at 23-22 with 3:11 left. Over that stretch, Delaware held Campbell to 1-for-12 from the floor. The Hens finished the half 4-for-6 to make it a 31-28 game with the Camels on top.
- Eight-straight points for Campbell to begin the second half forced an early timeout with the home squad on top 39-28 with 18:13 left in play. Delaware outpaced Campbell 11-6 to drop to lead to 45-39 at the under-12 media stoppage. The Hens outscored the host 29-16 the remainder of the game, including nine-straight to end the game.
GAME NOTES
- Delaware moves to 9-0 when holding opponents under 70 points this season, and 78-21 under Martin Ingelsby.
- UD moves to 2-0 on Thursdays this season.
- When wearing its blue uniforms, Delaware is now 5-2.
