Epic Battle Brewing As Women’s Basketball Welcomes Stony Brook To Newark Sunday Afternoon

NEWARK, Del. – Fans in Newark should gear up for an action pack Sunday afternoon in the Bob Carpenter Center as it proves to be a big one with two of three undefeated in CAA play facing one another. The University of Delaware women's basketball team is set to close out its two-game homestand by welcoming Stony Brook for its fifth meeting in program history, the second time in Newark.
As part of Alumni Day, tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. and will be broadcast simultaneously on regional networks, NBC Philadelphia and SNY, along with coverage on FloHoops.

ABOUT THE HENS
- The Blue Hens won two straight games to open CAA play with the most recent win taking place last Sunday, Jan. 7 against Hampton at home.
- Delaware won a convincing 76-61 win, headlined by a quartet of double-digit scorers.
- Chloe Wilson led the way in scoring for the second-straight game for the Blue Hens with 16 points.
- Sydney Boone, Rebecca Demke and Nakiyah Mays-Prince all followed with 14, 12 and 11 points, respectively.
- Klarke Sconiers reached a milestone of 500 points scored as a Blue Hen, finishing the afternoon with seven points and pulling down a team-best eight rebounds.
- One of the notable stats for the Blue Hens was on the steals line, where as a unit, Delaware nabbed a season-best 15 steals.
- Around the nation, Wilson ranks 33rd in free throws made (66) and 34th in free throw attempts (85) while Tara Cousins ranks 58th in three-pointers per game (2.54)
- Stony Brook's last time out was Friday, Jan. 12 when the Seawolves captured the 77-65 road win at Towson.
- The Seawolves shot 50 percent from beyond the arc as Gigi Gonzalez led the way with a career-high 30 points to go along with six rebounds.
- Sherese Pittman tacked on 14 points and two steals and Khari Clark chipped in with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
- Stony Brook ranks seventh according to CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll as of Jan. 9.
- Stony Brook was projected to finish second behind Towson in the conference according to the preseason coaches poll. Pittman and Gonzalez earned a spot on the Preseason All-CAA First and Second Team respectively.
- This will be the fifth time in program history that the Blue Hens and the Seawolves will be meeting, the second time inside Bob Carpenter Center.
- The Blue Hens hold the 4-0 record, including winning its lone home game against the Seawolves dating back to the 2004-05 season. Delaware captured the 83-58 victory on Nov. 30, 2004.
- The last time Delaware and Stony Brook met was in Stony Brook, N.Y. for the first time since the Seawolves joined the CAA and the Blue Hens walked away with a narrow 53-51 road victory.
- Sconiers led the way with 20 points, five rebounds and two blocks in the win.
- Both teams enter Sunday's matchup undefeated in conference play, with Delaware sporting a 6-8 record and Stony Brook holding a 13-1 record.
- Stony Brook's last loss was against B1G-opponent Minnesota on Nov. 26, 2023, falling to Gophers 67-54 on the road.
- This will be the lone regular-season matchup between Delaware and Stony Brook.
