Women's Basketball Heads South For Two-Game Road Trip To William & Mary Friday, N.C. A&T Sunday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. | GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Delaware women's basketball team gets ready to hit the road for a two-game stretch in Virginia and North Carolina. First, the Blue Hens will face William & Mary Friday evening inside Kaplan Center in Williamsburg, Va., being one of two regular-season meetings. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on FloHoops.
After Friday evening's matchup against the Tribe, Delaware will head to the Tar Heel State Sunday afternoon to face North Carolina A&T inside Corbett Sports Center in Greensboro, N.C. Opening tip is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will also be broadcast on FloHoops.

vs. William & Mary
- Delaware is 6-9 on the year with a 2-1 mark in league play heading into Friday's battle.
- In an anticipated battle of two undefeated teams in CAA play last Sunday afternoon (Jan. 14) vying to be top dog, Delaware dropped a 79-67 home decision to Stony Brook, who sits as the lone unbeaten team in league play.
- The Blue Hens were led by Klarke Sconiers' 16 points, seven rebounds and three blocks.
- Sydney Boone and Rebecca Demeke both scored 10 points.
- Darrionna Howard led the Blue Hens in rebounds with 10, her third time pulling down double-digit boards this season, while Chloe Wilson followed with eight.

- Wilson leads the conference in free throw attempts (86) and ranks second in free throws made (67) and 10th in free throw percentage (77.9).
- Tara Cousins ranks second in three-point attempts (97), third in field goal percentage (43.7) and three-pointers per game (2.43), sixth in three-pointers made (34), eighth in three-point percentage (35.1) and 10th in points per game (14.2).
- Sconiers ranks fifth in blocks (21) and blocks per game (1.40) while Boone ranks seventh in steals per game (1.73).
- The last time out for the Blue Hens was Friday, Jan. 19 at William & Mary.
- Delaware suffered a heartbreaking 78-72 overtime setback to the Tribe, snapping a six-game winning streak against them.
- Cousins paced the Blue Hens with 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
- Wilson followed with 13 points, four rebounds and four steal while Ande'a Cherisier chipped in 12 points, four rebounds and two steals off the bench.
- Nakiyah Mays-Prince nabbed a career-best six steals.
- William & Mary hold a 7-8 overall record and 3-1 in conference play as we head into week three of CAA action.
- The last time out for William & Mary was Jan. 14, where the Tribe captured the 62-43 road victory at Elon.
- William & Mary was paced by Bella Nascimento's first career double-double, with 21 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
- Rebekah Frisby-Smith followed with 10 points.
- William & Mary also claimed conference victories over the defending champions Monmouth and against Hofstra. The Tribe lone conference loss comes at the hands of North Carolina A&T.
- William & Mary was projected to finish ninth in the conference according to the preseason coaches poll while Nylah Young earned a spot on the Preseason All-CAA Second Team.
- After Friday's matchup, the next time Delaware and Northeastern will meet will be on Friday, Feb. 9 inside Bob Carpenter Center as part of Black History Month Legacy Game and Unity Night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
- The last time out for North Carolina A&T was last Sunday, Jan. 14 at fellow-HBCU Hampton, where the Aggies captured the 10-point victory, 67-57, over the Pirates.
- Jordyn Dorsey led the Aggies with 18 points and six rebounds on 7-for-8 shooting from the line. Maleia Bracone netted four three-pointers to finish with 16 points. Chaniya Clark secured the fifth double-double of her career and her fifth this season, finishing with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots on 6-for-9 shooting.
- The Aggies will be entering Sunday's matinee 9-6 on the year and 3-1 in conference play sporting a three-game winning streak. A&T claimed league wins over Towson and William & Mary but suffered its lone loss against Charleston.
- A&T was selected to finish eighth in the conference according to the preseason coaches poll while Bracone and Dorsey earned a spot on the Preseason All-CAA Second Team and Honorable Mention, respectively.
vs. William & Mary
- This will be the 43rd meeting between the two programs with Delaware holding the 32-10 record, 29-9 in conference play, and 15-4 in Williamsburg.
- The Blue Hens are currently on a six-game winning streak and 8-2 in the last 10 matchups against the Tribe.
- This will be the second time head coaches Sarah Jenkins and Erin Dickerson Davis will be meeting since taking over their respective programs.
- Both teams head into Friday's matchup itching to hand the other their second CAA loss of the season.
- The last time Delaware and William & Mary met was inside Kaplan Center on Jan. 29, 2023, where the Blue Hens captured the narrow 74-72 victory over the Tribe.
- Sconiers led the way with 18 points and Cousins added 10 points, four rebounds and three steals to the mix.
- This will be the third time in program history Delaware and North Carolina A&T will duke it out against one another with the Blue Hens capturing the two wins over the Aggies. This will also be the third time Coach Jenkins and Tarrell Robinson will be meeting.
- It was an epic battle last season in Newark where Delaware captured the thrilling 79-75 overtime victory on March 2, 2023. Sconiers led the way with 20 points, six rebounds and four blocks.
- The last time Delaware and A&T met in Greensboro was on Jan. 15, 2023 where the Blue Hens was also victories in their first-ever meeting with the 69-52 scoreline. Sconiers and Demeke both poured in 11 points to help lead Delaware to the promise land.
- This year, Sunday's matchup will serve as the lone regular season meeting between both programs.
