NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware men's soccer team put up a valiant effort in their Friday evening match against Drexel but ended up walking away unsuccessful with a score of 2-1.

The overall record of the Hens is now 7-6-2 and 2-5 in the CAA. Drexel's overall record is now 8-4-1 and 4-2-1 in the conference.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Sam Donnellan scored the goal for the Hens.
Justin Ruth and Rich Monath picked up an assist.
Adam Vik nabbed a save.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Grant was loud with the echoes of fans as the Hens established their strength in the defensive side.
Donellan scored the match's first goal with a double assist from Monath & Ruth in the 21st minute.
The Hens took the lead to the locker room as the first half wrapped up.
After much time with the Hens on the offense, Drexel was able to sneak in a goal in the 67th minute.
The match remained at the draw as both sides fought hard to break it in their favor, ultimately the Dragons pulled in front scoring the final goal in the 89th minute.

GAME NOTES

This match kicked off the University of Delaware's 2024 Homecoming weekend with football playing the following day.
This is the final CAA conference match to be played in Grant Stadium after 23 years of competition.

UP NEXT - The Hens travel to their final CAA regular season match at Hofstra next Saturday for a 7 p.m. match.
