van Eijck, Vaccaro Pick up CAA Weekly Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Delaware field hockey's Cecile van Eijck has been named CAA Defensive Player of the Week, while Taylor Vaccaro has earned Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
In a 1-1 week, van Eijck was nearly unstoppable in cage. She tallied 16 total saves and just two goals allowed. She registered eight saves, and one goal allowed in both games. The Hens won a pivotal 2-1 decision at Monmouth and a 1-0 overtime loss to No. 7 Saint Joseph's. In the game against St. Joe's, she successfully shut down a penalty stroke to keep the clean sheet intact and force overtime.
Vaccaro scored her first career goal in the Hens' pivotal win over Monmouth to remain unbeaten in the CAA.
Delaware returns to action on Friday with a CAA match at William & Mary.
