ABOUT THE HENS
- The Blue Hens were last in action on Saturday, Nov. 12, against La Salle, where the team fell 68-54.
- Rebecca Demeke led Delaware with a season-high 16 points, shooting 50% (6-12) from the field, along with three steals and two rebounds.
- Chloe Wilson contributed nine points and a season-high 12 rebounds.
- Notably, as of Monday, Nov. 11, Alieghya Bartholomew leads the nation in free-throw percentage (100%, among 94 players tied).
- Entering game two of the 2024-25 season, coach Jenkins returns for her third season at Delaware, holding a 27-35 career record. She brings back eight players from the 2023-24 squad, preserving over 50 percent of the team's scoring, and adds five talented newcomers for a 13-player roster ready to elevate the program.
- Key returning players include Sydney Boone, Tara Cousins, Ande'a Cherisier, Demeke, and Wilson. Graduate transfer Ella Wanzer from Binghamton and junior transfer Bartholomew from Gulf Coast State join the team, each looking to make an immediate impact.
- Delaware was projected to finish sixth in the CAA Preseason Coaches' Poll. Graduate student Wilson earned a spot on the Preseason All-CAA Second Team, while teammates Cousins and Cherisier received All-CAA Honorable Mentions.
- The Blue Hens' non-conference schedule includes four home games, six road games, and a competitive Thanksgiving tournament in New Orleans. The 12-game slate features matchups against George Washington (Nov. 4), La Salle (Nov. 9), Temple (Nov. 12), Colgate (Nov. 11), Providence (Nov. 24), Big Easy Classic (Nov. 29-30), Delaware State (Dec. 7), Villanova (Dec. 11), Navy (Dec. 19), Old Dominion (Dec. 22), and Harvard (Dec. 30).
- Captains for the 2024-25 season are Boone, Cousins, and Wanzer, who will lead the Blue Hens both on and off the court.
- Temple opened its 2024-25 season at home on Monday, Nov. 4, against Richmond, narrowly losing 79-72.
- Tiarra East led the Owls with 23 points, while Tarriyonna Gary added 18, including four three-pointers.
- Newcomer Amaya Oliver, who joined Temple after previous stints at USC and Loyola Marymount, had an impressive debut, contributing 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 35 minutes of play.
- The Owls were projected to finish eighth in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) this season.
- East, named to the preseason All-AAC Second Team, led Temple last season in scoring (13.3 ppg) and steals (50). Her strong play contributed to the team's 20 wins and a regular-season conference title.
- Both teams will be looking to get their first win on the 24-25 campaign.
- This will be the 24th meeting between the two programs, with Temple holding a narrow 12-11 advantage.
- The Blue Hens have a 6-4 edge when playing at home, though the last home win over the Owls dates back to Dec. 5, 1992, claiming a 74-53 victory.
- In the last 10 meetings, the Owls have won eight, including last season's 72-65 victory in Philadelphia.
- In that game, Delaware's Boone led with 16 points (6-10 FG) and four rebounds, while Wilson recorded a double-double with 11 points (9-10 FT) and 11 rebounds.
