Cross Country Finishes 18th at 2024 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The University of Delaware cross country team competed at the 2024 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals, hosted by Penn State Friday afternoon, held at the Blue & White Courses in University Park, Pa. Out of 30 teams, the Blue Hens claimed an 18th-place finish, improving from last year's 19th-place showing. The performance was highlighted by a personal-best effort from Leah Clear.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- The Blue Hens scored 490 points, earning an 18th-place finish in a competitive field of 30 teams.
- Leah Clear led the team with a personal-best 6K time of 21:47.4, placing 85th overall.
- Ella Peterson followed closely with a time of 21:51.8, securing 91st place.
- Marissa Dailey (22:05.7, 101st), Gabriella Gait-Smith (22:09.4, 106th), and Erin McGoey (22:09.9, 107th) completed Delaware's scoring five.
- Notable performances included Kelly Lynch (22:18.8, 118th) and Stephanie Herrera (22:57.7, 152nd).
RACE NOTES
- West Virginia secured the team title with a score of 41, led by individual champion Ceili McCabe, who clocked a winning time of 19:11.2.
- The remaining top five teams were Georgetown (58), Penn State (85), Princeton (99), and Villanova (108).
- The Blue Hens concluded the 2024 cross country season bidding farewell to a graduating class of eight: graduate students Lynch, Nicole Re, Rachel Starr, and Lauren Thomas, along with seniors Dailey, Danielle Eshelman, Hannah Smalley, and Kamila Soja.
