Men’s Basketball Stumbles Against Vermont in First Game of 2024 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – University of Delaware men's basketball (2-3) cut the deficit to one point with 25 seconds left but couldn't overcome the margin as it fell to Vermont (3-3) 75-71 Saturday afternoon in the 2024 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Rookie Izaiah Pasha tallied his first game in double figures with a career-high 20 points.
- Camden notched his third double-digit scoring output of the season with 19 points. He finished the day a perfect 9-of-9 from the charity stripe.
- Cavan Reilly rounded out a trio of double figure scorers with a season-high 18 points. He also corralled four rebounds.
- Erik Timko paced the Hens with six rebounds, the second game in a row he's led in that category.
- Delaware continued its hot shooting from the line, going 9-for-9 in the first half, and finished 17-of-19.
- Vermont held the edge through the opening four minutes, with a 7-2 lead at the media break. Delaware ripped off an 11-0 run over 2:48 to pull ahead 15-11 and force a Vermont timeout at 11:18. The Catamounts dropped the deficit to 29-17 up to the 6:09 mark for the under-eight stoppage. Vermont regained the lead, 33-31, with a 6-0 spurt over 1:32 with 3:38 left in the opening stanza. The opposition held the Hens scoreless over 5:03 to build a 37-31 lead before Camden drained three from the line with 28 ticks left. The score held after the free throws, 37-34.
- The Catamounts began the second half with a 9-2 margin to take their largest lead at that point, 46-36. Delaware held Vermont 1-of-7 from the field heading into the under-12-media timeout but couldn't cut the deficit beyond 50-43. Vermont held steady and outpaced the Blue & Gold 13-7 up to 4:22 left in the second for a 63-53 lead. After the Hens cut the gap to 63-58 with a Timko triple, the Catamounts drained back-to-back three pointers to widen the gap back to double figures. UD went on a 10-0 run to cut it to 69-68 but couldn't prevail in the final seconds.
- Saturday was Tahron Allen's first start for the Hens.
