Women’s Basketball Heads to NOLA for the 2024 Big Easy Classic

NEW ORLEANS – The University of Delaware women's basketball team continues its 18-day stretch away from Bob Carpenter Center with a Black Friday (Nov. 29) matchup against Tarleton State as part of the 2024 Big Easy Classic - Fleur de Lis Tournament at the Alario Center in Westwego, La. Delaware will conclude the Big Easy Classic against Evansville on Saturday, Nov. 30.
This will be the first time Delaware will play against both Tarleton State and Evansville. Both games will tip off at 6:45 p.m. ET/5:45 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on YouTube.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Heading into Feast Week, Delaware will be looking to get back into the win column after dropping the 60-53 decision at to Providence last Sunday, Nov. 24.
- The Blue Hens were led by a trio of double-digit scorers in Ande'a Cherisier, Tara Cousins and Alieghya Bartholomew.
- Cherisier led the Blue Hens with 12 points and added four rebounds. Cousins and Bartholomew each contributed 11 points.
- Cousins also grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists, while Bartholomew added two boards.
- Chloe Wilson pulled down a team-leading eight rebounds.
- Through the season's first four games, Cousins leads the team in scoring with an average of 10.8 points per game, followed closely by Rebecca Demeke at 10.5 points per game.
- Wilson has dominated the boards, averaging a team-best 8.5 rebounds per game.
- As of Nov. 26, Delaware ranks 98th nationally in three-point shooting percentage (34.0%).
- Under head coach Sarah Jenkins, the Blue Hens hold a 2-3 record during Thanksgiving break games, highlighted by a notable 83-80 win over Illinois on Nov. 26, 2022.
- Cousins played a key role in that victory, finishing with 11 points, four assists, and two steals.
- Tarleton State enters Friday's matchup with a 3-3 record, coming off a 48-42 road victory at Houston Christian, their first road win this season.
- Miannah Little sparked the Texans off the bench with a season-high 17 points on 50% shooting. Elise Turrubiates led the team in rebounding with nine boards while adding eight points.
- Now in its first full year as an NCAA Division I member, Tarleton was projected to finish sixth in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
- As of Nov. 26, the Texans rank 82nd nationally in scoring defense and second in the WAC, allowing just 57.2 points per game.
- Evansville is set to take on Nicholls on Friday, Nov. 29, before their matchup against the Blue Hens.
- Evansville last played on Saturday, Nov. 23, falling 86-79 to Lipscomb. The Purple Aces featured five double-digit scorers headlined by Maggie Hartwig's 24-point and six-rebound performance.
- Behind Hartwig was Camryn Runner with 18 points and five assists while Júlia Palomo (four steals), Kaiden Kreinhagen and Tamesha "Mae" Dozier poured in 11, 10, 10 points, respectively.
- Evansville was projected to finish 12th in the Missouri Valley Conference.
- Nationally, the Purple Aces rank among the leaders in several categories as of Nov. 26: 13th in free throws made per game (17.2), 29th in defensive rebounds per game (30.0), 33rd in three-point percentage (38.5) and 37th in free throw percentage (76.8).
- Individually, Camryn Runner ranks fourth nationally in free throws made (43) and attempts (54) and Maggie Hartwig ranks 10th in rebounds per game (11.4) and 11th in defensive rebounds per game (8.0).
