Areephun Sets 36-Hole Record, Men’s Golf Shoots Low at Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – Arsit Areephun fired consecutive career-low rounds to set UD's 36-hole record and finish in a tie for second place, while the University of Delaware men's golf team turned in three-straight rounds under par to place sixth at the 20-team Loyola Intercollegiate, hosted by Loyola University Maryland. Playing at the Palm Valley Golf Club (Par 72 / 7,015 yards) in Goodyear, Arizona, the Blue Hens turned in team rounds of 283-285-285 to finish the three-day tournament at 11-under par.

The Blue Hens will have a couple of weeks off before traveling to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for The Surf Club Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State. The two-day, three-round tournament will be held March 11-12.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hens opened the tournament with a five-under par on Sunday before carding three-under pars on both Monday and Tuesday. Delaware totaled 68 birdies across the three days.
- Areephun set the Delaware 36-hole record with rounds of 67 and 65 over the first two days. He totaled eight birdies in each of the first two rounds and sat in first place at 12-under par after 36 holes.
- Ariyachatvakin surged up the leaderboard on Tuesday with six birdies and a 4-under par 68. He was one of the day's biggest movers, climbing 26 spots in the standings to finish in a tie for 16th place.
- Nerpin opened and closed the tournament with rounds of 2-under par 70 and totaled 13 birdies to earn his best tournament finish of the season.
- Manchester made his season debut playing as an individual. He recorded six birdies during Monday's second round.
