HENS HIGHLIGHTS
- Jyáre Davis led all Delaware scorers with 19 points and nine rebounds, one shy of his eighth double-double of the season.
- Niels Lane put up 16 points and Gerald Drumgoole Jr. tallied 11 to round out the Hens' double figure scorers.
- The Hens went 21-for-26 from the stripe, including 10-of-12 from Davis.
- The Huskies opened the game with four-straight points before Lane put the Blue Hens on the board, but the visitors held a 9-2 advantage up to the first media break with the Hens shooting 1-of-7 to begin the game. Northeastern went ahead by as many as nine points, but a 6-0 run from the Hens paired with an almost three minute long scoring drought from the Huskies gave UD a 26-25 lead, its first of the game. The two squads battled back and forth over the final minutes of the half but the Blue & Gold outscored the Huskies 9-4 down the stretch to take a 37-36 lead into the locker room.
- Delaware opened the second half with a bang as Davis knocked down a triple to begin an 11-4 spurt to take a 48-40 lead, their largest of the game to this point, before the first media break. Despite being down 11, the visitors responded and made it a 53-51 game with 9:45 left. The stretch saw the Blue & Gold scoreless for nearly three minutes. The Huskies knotted the game at 55-55 with 7:08 left, but a clutch three pointer from Drumgoole Jr. put the Hens back in front before the under-eight media break. NU continued to fight back and tied the game at 59 apiece with 4:59 left. Fifty-three seconds later, a Masai Troutman triple put the Huskies up 62-61, but it was short-lived as Drumgoole Jr. responded with another long ball with 3:40 to go to give the Hens a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
- The last time UD played on Leap Day was in 2020 when it defeated UNCW, 82-67.
- Delaware moves to 13-2 when leading at halftime this season.
- The Hens improve to 15-1 when holding opponents under 70 points this season and 84-22 under Martin Ingelsby.
