Loynd, Greenly Receive All-Conference Preseason Honors

RICHMOND, Va. - Infielder Joey Loynd was named to the preseason All-CAA team, while designated hitter/pitcher Bryce Greenly was named as an honorable mention, the league announced on Wednesday.

For the second straight season, Loynd earns a spot on the all-preseason team. In 59 games last season, Loynd led the Blue Hens in batting average (.392), slugging (.692), on base percentage (.454, min. 50 at bats), on base plus slugging (1.146), doubles (27), hits (98), home runs (14), runs batted in (80). He also earned First Team All-CAA postseason honors, and was an ABCA Second Team All-Regional player as well.

Greenly also made an appearance in the All-CAA preseason team last spring, and was a Second Team All-CAA postseason athlete.Â

Offensively, Greenly led the Blue Hens in triples (four), was second in batting average (.322), on base percentage (.397, min. 50 batting attempts), and on base plus slugging percentage (.911). He hit eight home runs, and batted in 33 runs. In 56 innings pitched on the mound, and 15 starts, Greenly boasted a 3-3 record with a 4.50 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and struck out 43 batters.Â

The Blue Hens head to Florida for their first road series of the season against North Florida from Feb. 16-18.
