Baseball Dropped Conference Game vs William & Mary on Friday

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware baseball team dropped the opening game of a three game series against William & Mary by a score of 9-4 on Friday, March 29 at Bob Hannah Stadium.Â
With the loss, the Blue Hens are now 12-12 overall and are 2-2 in Coastal Athletic Association play.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Offensively, the Blue Hens went 8-of-35, driving in four RBI's, walked nine times and struck out eight.

The individuals with multiple hits were Andrew Amato, who went 2-for-4 with a walk and an RBI, as well as Bryce Greenly, who went 2-for-5 and scored a run, and Chris Dengler, who went 2-for-5, and drove in 2 RBI's.

Tyler August started the game on the mound for UD. He pitched 5 innings, allowing eight earned runs off seven hits, walked four batters and struck out five. He was credited with the decision. In relief was Carter Welch. He pitched the final four innings, allowed only one earned run off five hits, struck out two batters and walked two.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ

After the Tribe put up four runs between the first three innings, the Blue Hens got on the board with a fielder's choice ground out in the bottom of the third from Amato.

William & Mary proceeded to plate four more runs between the fourth and fifth innings, making the score 8-1.

The Blue Hens started to chip away at the Tribe lead, starting with a 2-RBI double from Dengler and an RBI fielder's choice from Aidden Stewart.

The Tribe now own the all-time series 36-35, but the Blue Hens own a 19-8 advantage at home.
