Dunion Walks it Off for Series Win Over Lafayette

NEWARK, Del. – With two away in the bottom of the ninth, Jake Dunion went first pitch swinging and launched a solo home run to right center field to walk it off for a 6-5 win Sunday over Lafayette. UD moves to 6-4 overall, while the Leopards drop to 1-9.

Delaware will take on Maryland on Tuesday in College Park, Md. with first pitch at 4 p.m.

- Dunion ended the day 3-for-5 with the homer, two RBIs, and a run scored.
- Eric Ludman launched his first long ball of the season and scored a pair of runs.
- Josearmando Diaz and Aaron Graeber each recorded a hit.
- Aidan Kane tallied two RBIs and a walk.
- Owen Margolis (1-0) picked up the win out of the pen with 2.1 innings tossed and four strikeouts and just one hit surrendered.
- The Delaware pitching staff registered 12 strikeouts as a group and allowed just two earned runs.
- Delaware took an early lead with two runs in the opening frame. Aidan Kane had a sacrifice fly to plate Ludman, followed by a Dunion single up the middle to drive in Joey Loynd.
- Diaz came around in the second on a double play to push the lead to 3-0.
- Kane picked up his second RBI of the day with a ground out in the third to allow Andrew Amato to score.
- The Leopards found the scoreboard in the fourth with a two-run homer from Ethan Swindler to cut the deficit in half – 4-2.
- The fifth turned into a three-run inning for Lafayette to take its first lead of the game, 5-4.
- Ludman notched his first hit of the season with a solo shot in the sixth to knot the game at five apiece.
- Dunion walked it off for the Hens.
