COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Despite a strong pitching performance, the University of Delaware baseball team drops a close 3-2 contest against Maryland on Tuesday.

With the loss, the Blue Hens overall record goes to 6-5.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS

As a team, the Blue Hens hit 7-of-32, hit two home runs, drove in two runs, walked once, left four runners on base, and struck out just six times.
Individually, the Blue Hens we're led by Bryce Greenly, and Eric Ludman, both of whom went 2-of-4 on the day, with Ludman hitting a solo home run.
Starting on the mound for the Blue Hens was Nate Rolka. He went 4 innings, gave up three runs, two of which were earned, off seven hits, struck out two batters and walked five. He was credited with the decision.
Carter Welch and Anthony Gubitosi pitched in relief of Rolka. The two combined for five innings pitched, gave up no runs off of two hits, walked two batters and struck out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After Rolka gave up two runs through the first three innings, Andrew Amato cut the Maryland lead in half with a solo home run in the top of the fourth
The Blue Hens wouldn't strike again until the top of the eighth where Ludman hit a solo home run of his own to cut the Maryland lead down to 3-2.
Despite a lead off single from Greenly, the game ended with a double play off the bat of Jake Dunion

GAME NOTES

Tuesday was the 51st all time game between Maryland and Delaware. With the win, Maryland improves their series record to 33-17-1.
The two will play again on April 16 in Newark
