Winburn Earns Second Straight CAA Pitcher of the Week Honor, NFCA Weekly Honor Roll

RICHMOND, Va. - University of Delaware's Emily Winburn was named CAA Pitcher of the Week after helping extend Delaware's winning streak to 13 by sweeping Drexel.
Winburn pitched 15 scoreless innings against the Dragons, recording two shutouts and a save. She allowed just five hits, zero walks, struck out 10, and held hitters to just a .100 BAA. Winburn became the all-time wins leader in Delaware history with her 64th victory during Saturday's game, in which she pitched a three-hit shutout in. On Friday, she pitched a three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in game one of a doubleheader, then recorded the final three outs of game two to extend her program career saves record to 11.
Winburn is the first pitcher this season to earn back-to-back CAA Pitcher of the Week honors. She has been dominant as of late, allowing just two earned runs in her last 35 innings pitched, good for a 0.39 ERA and a 5-0 record with three saves. She has allowed just 22 hits and five walks during that stretch. For the season, Winburn has pitched to a 1.95 ERA in 111.1 innings pitched, and has nine complete games, four shutouts and a record of 15-2 and four saves. She leads the conference in wins, saves, shutouts, and innings pitched, second in complete games, and third in strikeouts and ERA. This is the 10th CAA Pitcher of the Week honor of her career. Now in her fifth season, Winburn has made 121 appearances and pitched to a 2.34 ERA in 559.1 innings pitched, striking out 425, recording 45 complete games and 18 shutouts, and picking up 64 wins and 11 saves. Her next appearance will move her into a tie for second place all-time in Delaware history with Jardan Cargile at 122. Her 559.1 innings and 425 strikeouts are the third most all-time, and her 45 complete games are seventh most all-time and 18 shutouts are tied for third most.
Delaware has earned seven straight CAA weekly honors, and their seven total weekly honors lead the conference. They have won 13 consecutive games and 10 straight CAA games, tying program records in each. Their 10-1 conference record sits atop the CAA standings by three games, ahead of Campbell, UNCW, and Hofstra. Delaware is scheduled to play a doubleheader against Coppin State tomorrow, then travel to Elon for a CAA weekend series.
