Baseball Dropped Series Conference Opener Against Northeastern

NEWARK, Del. - The University of Delaware baseball team dropped a Coastal Athletic Association game against Northeastern by a score of 12-8 on Friday at Bob Hannah Stadium.
With the loss, the Blue Hens overall record goes to 17-15 and 5-5 in CAA play.
HEN HIGHLIGHTS

Three Blue Hens had multiple hits, Bryce Greenly (2-for-5, 2 2B), Eric Ludman (2-for-4, 2B, BB), Aidan Kane (2-for-3, HR, RBI, BB), and Chris Dengler (2-for-5, HR, 4 RBI).
- Starting on the mound for UD was Ethan Shaub. He went 2 innings, gave up one earned run off four hits, struck out three batters and walked one. Tyler August, Anthony Gubitosi and Wyatt Nelson came in relief. August went 4.2 innings, gave up eight earned runs off eight hits, struck out two batters and walked one. He was credited with the loss and is now 2-4 on the season. Gubitosi and Nelson pitched the final 2.1 innings.Â

The Blue Hens tied the game in the bottom of the third with a balk, scoring Eric Ludman. The following inning, after the Huskies scored three innings, Aidan Kane hit a solo home run to cut the Huskies lead to 4-2

Despite the Huskies adding a run in the top of the fifth, Chris Dengler gave the Blue Hens a 6-5 lead off a grand slam. It was his second home run of the game.

The Huskies scored seven runs between the fifth, sixth and seventh inning to make it a 12-6 game.Â
